Dreaming of kitchen renovation

Our kitchen is pretty small and we often dream of removing a wall to create an open space with a kitchen island towards the living-room.
However, I don't think we will ever renovate our kitchen, there is no major work required. But it still nice to dream on how we could get more space by rearranging the furniture or getting new ones.

When I saw this kitchen this morning...

I thought Orna (the owner of this apartment) did a pretty good job in exploiting the wall to create storage space. And I love the nook with spot lights and colorful vases she has to break the continuity of the cabinet wall.

I found her kitchen through this post at Apartment Therapy ;)

Post on reading niches/nooks at Apartment therapy

A couple of days ago, I discovered this post about book nooks and reading rooms at Apartment Therapy homepage, so I thought to share it here as I have been looking at a few others reading niches previously (here, here and here)

Storage ideas

Among the blogs that I have bookmarked through the years there is one that is only about storage ideas. It's Storage | Glee. It's a great source of inspiration if you look for smart ideas.

This post for instance is giving me a great idea for a possible solution in the office/guest room.

Have a look to Storage|Glee if you also look for storage ideas ;)

Two lovely niches

I am in love with niches as you might have understood by now (more on niches here, here and here ).

I find niches also quite practical, they usually exploit the space offering multiple functionalities which is a critical aspect if you have limited space.

So in this post at Desire to Inspire, an idea for a compact desk solution with lots of drawers for storage.

While here at Dwellers without decorators a lovely bed niche.

It seems green is quite a popular color for bed-niche (remember this one?)

Help for inspiration

We have been having this idea for a long time. We wanted to add some more storage space in our small bedroom. So we have been thinking on adding some wardrobes on each side of our bed and maybe some cabinets on top (kind of a 'wardrobe niche bed'), but inspiration has always been short.

As you might have guessed from previous posts, I am a big fun of Kim and Jo's blog Desire To Inspire. I have always found great ideas, inspiration and a sense of refresh in their blog. Among other things they post on their blog, there is a session dedicated to "Reader requests". So today I decided to send them a message to get some help.

Here is a picture of a "wardrobe niche bed" Kim has recently posted on another reader request's post on a completely different topic (pendant light).

Do you also have suggestion for a "wardrobe niche bed"? Or do you actually have one?
What are your sources of inspiration?

Dillon Kyle - Bedroom niche

A few days ago a Desire to Inspire post about Dillon Kyle caught my attention.

Very intriguing style!

But I was particularly wondering about two beautiful bedroom niches.

This green office/bedroom with the small bookshelves in the wall, the wall color and the poppies (I think they are from IKEA...at least I remember something like that a few years ago), the spot lights, and the desk (probably also from IKEA)...

Isn't it adorable?

And the second room is the one on the left side of this picture

Well I am not sure if this is a bedroom, but you could always use that red sofa as a bed. I love the light of this room, the use of white and red, the storage space below the sofa-bed, plenty of space for books and other stuff on the shelves all around the room, the dark floor and the bright carpet.

Plenty of reasons for liking these room! Don't you agree?

More natural roller curtains and an idea for the bedroom

We have many plans for changing several rooms in the house. In particular the studio/guest room and our bedroom.

I really like the idea of natural roller curtains as I have mentioned before ;)
But this is just another great picture I cannot loose as inspiration.

This is from So'mace (there is not direct link to the post but it's from Sep 15, 2010 with Delights as label)

I like the fact that the curtains this time are mounted outside the window frame. We have always had problems with our window size, between two standards measures for curtains. This could be a solution ;)

The other inspiring idea regards the bedroom. We are looking at different way for adding storage space in our room. There is not much space, but we have been thinking to frame the bed headboard with shelves, etc.

I like this idea from Cote de Texas (for some strange reason I cannot upload this image). Follow the link to the image or to this post and look at the master bedroom where 'the bed fits into the niche between the bookcases'. I like the idea of small shelves on a side of the other cabinets we are in need for. In the same post you'll find lots of other examples of an excellent use of natural roller curtains.

Sofa/Bed/Reading space ideas and another sources of inspiration

Here more ideas and inspirations come for the studio.

I like the idea of having a sofa full of comfortable pillows where one can stop, relax and read (as I might have shown earlier). Here come two wonderful ideas, with drawers for storage space underneath ;)

From Justin Bernhaut through Coco+Kelly

And the colorful sofa in the next picture (on the right)

From Haus Maus by Holly Becker, author of another very interesting blog decor8

I found in fact more inspirations from another decor8 post here. I love many things from the bright office in this picture

The light, the natural roller curtains, the plain desk, the side shelves...should I add more? Lovely!

Another great, slick office is the one from Young House Love

Again another plain desk and colorful (without overdoing) solution.

What do you think? Where to you get inspiration from for your office re-design?
